So as I mentioned in a previous post – What have I gotten myself into?
Many years ago I considered doing the Master Knitting Program from TKGA because I had a friend who owned a LYS and she was doing it. At the time I didn’t have the money to join The Knitting Guild Association so I couldn’t do the program anyway. Now several years later I’ve finally done it…..and just in time to submit. Here are my thoughts.
A year seems like a good amount of time to do this program and I started out pretty good, with collecting the materials needed. But I used a set of needles that I love and after knitting several of the swatches I noticed that the colour of the needles was transferring to the yarn making it look dingy. Some of the swatches seemed ok but others were really noticeable (at least to me). So I had to basically start over. I ordered more yarn and awaited it’s arrival. During this time I suffered health problems and other things (you know – life) so of course it took me a while to get back on track.
When I finally got back on track with new yarn and different needles I realized I wouldn’t likely have enough yarn and I substituted with some coloured yarn (coloured yarn is only allowed if it is very pale). I wasn’t sure if the yarn I had would be pale enough but I carried on as by now I was getting short on time. There is a lot of research to do for this program and that was taking a lot of time as well. I knit up all the swatches, did the research and answered all the questions and did the report…phew. Now I just had to send it off.
I finally found a box that would work to mail it (which was so much harder than I thought it would be) and packaged up my binder and sent it off to be critiqued. Now I am waiting on it’s return to see if I have to re-submit anything – I’m sure I do – and to see what I can improve on. No matter how good we are at things, there’s always room for improvement.
And remember, there’s also always room to just Stick to the Knitting 😊
