The Master Knitting Program (part 1)
What have I gotten myself into? I must be a sucker for punishment. Last May I applied for a scholarship for The Master Knitting Program through The Knitting Guild Association. It’s a program for members to have their knitting evaluated using specific criteria. It’s not a contest or a competition but rather an educational process.
At the time I applied for the scholarship I was really busy and beginning to think I should withdraw my application. But then I thought I’d just let it play out and whatever happened would be like a sign from God as to what I should do. If I didn’t get the scholarship it would be no problem – I’d just assume the timing was wrong… but if I did get the scholarship that would mean the time was right and I was ready for this huge task.
Well, I was awarded the scholarship and off I went, collecting all the materials I was going to need. The program is quite intensive and involves lots of research to answer specific questions and do a report. Of course there’s lots of sample knitting and a project that has to be done as well and then you organize it all in a binder and send it off for evaluation.
Oh ya, and you have a year to complete it. A year sounds like a long time but with everything else going on in my life, it’s been hard to find the time to get any of the work done. And, I also decided to start a website and boy that’s been a lot of work to organize as well.
I have about 2 ½ months left to complete the program and I am really struggling to be honest. I guess the good news for me is that I love research and writing and of course knitting so I should be able to enjoy the process at least a little. LOL.
TKGA has several knitting program offerings – not just The Master programs. If you are interested in learning more about knitting I highly recommend joining.
Whatever you decide, always always always… Stick to the Knitting 😊
